My name is Stian Andreas Ulriksen. I fell in love with photography at a young age (not that I’m not young anymore, I’m only half way to 48), and it has been an obsession since then. It is a great pleasure to capture the essence of an object or subject, and record that special moment in time.
“The world just does not fit conveniently into the format of a 35mm camera.”
– W. Eugene Smith
At the moment I am pursuing my Master’s degree in Economics at the University of Colorado Denver, so this is the reason to why photography has been pushed a little to the side lately, as I find studying a little bit more important. Nevertheless, I am doing my best to get out there and seize the moments as they appear.
I grew up with a dad who is an amazing hobby photographer. As a kid I used to play around with his cameras as soon as I got an opportunity, and as I grew older I started to get it, and it just became more and more interesting as I played. The first camera I had was the Canon IXUS, unfortunately I lost all the pictures I had taken prior to July 13, 2006 (15 years old)… I loved that camera, it didn’t have any advanced features or anything, but that didn’t matter cause I didn’t know much about taking pictures. One of the first things that fascinated me about photography was the «mystery» of Depth of Field. When I started borrowing one of my dad’s DSLRs, at Rally Sweden, I started to learn more and more and I started to see the enormous difference between a point and shoot and a DSLR. It was here it all started…
I am, as stated on the front page, an amateur photographer. I have a great passion for photography, and I hope to catch that essence on this website. If you have any questions about me or anything at all, do not hesitate to contact me using the contact form you will find on top of my website.
